I’ve lived the transitions that many of my clients face. I've managed a busy household of seven, moved more times than I can count, merged households with a partner (and kids), prepped and sold homes, became an ‘empty nester’ and downsized from a busy five-bedroom family home to a two bedroom apartment. As well as helped my mum transition from our childhood home into a new chapter of life, and gently supported family and friends make decisions on the belongings of loved ones who have passed.
Those experiences taught me something that goes far beyond organising. our 'stuff'. These are big emotional chapters full of memories, grief, mixed emotions (sometimes trauma), life changes, difficult decisions and sometimes simply trying to keep up when life has become overwhelming.
That's why Empatia Home Edit isn't about creating perfect homes or asking you to throw everything away. It's about creating a home that supports you.
A home that feels calmer, is easier to live in, and a home that gives you a little more breathing room, so you can find peace and enjoy the moments that matter.
My approach
My approach is to always grounded in compassion, understanding, and a genuine passion for helping people, while recognising and respecting the deep emotional connection we often have with our belongings. I will meet you where you are, take time to understand what you need, empower you to make difficult decisions, and work alongside you to create spaces in your home that feel calm, intentional, more manageable and aligned with your life as it is today.
There is a vulnerability in inviting a stranger into your home and having them go through your belongings. Knowing my process and how we will work together can help ease any uncertainty you may be feeling,
1. We start with a conversation
Before we touch anything, we talk about what’s happening in your home and what you would like to change. You might know exactly where you need help, or you might simply know that things have become overwhelming and you don’t know where to begin. Either is completely okay.
2. We make a plan
Together, we’ll explore what supports you now, what may be holding you back, and we identify where to start, what will make the biggest difference to you, and how to make room for what truly matters to you.
We’ll consider your priorities, your lifestyle, your available time and energy, and how you want your home to function. The aim is to break it down and create a realistic plan rather than trying to tackle everything at once.
3. We work through things together
We sort, declutter, organise and create systems that make sense for you and your home. I will help you understand your relationship with your things and work through decisions, but you remain in control of what stays and what goes. There is no pressure to part with things you love, this is where I provide practical support, encouragement and, when needed, a little gentle accountability.
4. We create spaces that work
Once we know what you’re keeping, we look at how things can be arranged so they are easier to find, use and put away. The goal isn't just for things to look great on the day. We want the systems we create to be practical enough to work in your everyday life.
5. We take it at your pace
Some things are easier to let go of and some spaces can be transformed quickly. Others take more time, particularly when there are memories, emotions or years of belongings involved. We don't need to rush the process. We can pause, adjust the plan or come back another day if that's what you need.
6. We leave you with something you can maintain.
An organised home should support your daily life. We'll focus on simple, realistic systems that fit your routines and the way you actually live. The aim is to make your home easier to manage so you can feel more confident about your space, less overwhelmed by your belongings and able to maintain the changes we've made.
Why empathy matters
Life experiences have given me an even greater appreciation for homes that are practical, functional and gentle to live in. I understand that some days even the smallest tasks can feel enormous, and that's one of the reasons I approach every client with patience, kindness and without judgement.
Organising someone’s home is about much more than decluttering, sorting and finding a place for things. The process can open up a lot of emotions, some good and some difficult, can highlight unfinished projects, broken plans and promises, endings and new beginnings. That’s why I believe empathy matters.
I don’t come into your home with judgement or assumptions about what you should keep, what you should let go of, or how your home should look. I take the time to understand what matters to you, what is making life difficult, and what you want your home to feel like. Together, we make decisions at a pace that feels manageable, with practical support and respect for your choices.
Organising isn’t about creating a perfect home. It’s about helping you create a home that works better for you.
